My Brand Story: Why Intrinsic Movement and Immerse Counselling Exists
Intrinsic Movement was born from real life, from pain, loss, grief, single motherhood, and then healing with a deep desire to create something meaningful.
For many years, I worked as a veterinary nurse, caring for your fur babies, always drawn to the healing field, always taking care of others.
But when I became a single mum, I knew I needed something more sustainable, something that honoured both my need to work and my need to be present for my children, school pick-ups, dinners, concerts, the simple daily moments that matter so much.
I didn’t want to just “go back to work.” I wanted to build something that aligned with my values, something rooted in care, authenticity, and real-life balance.
So I went back to school and studied Myotherapy, and from there, my journey into Counselling unfolded.
What I discovered in those early days as a Myotherapist was that most people weren’t just coming to me for physical pain, they were carrying emotional pain, too.
They needed a place to be heard. To offload. To feel safe.
My treatment space became a place where people shared their grief, their overwhelm, their loneliness; and I realised I was naturally offering something far beyond bodywork.
At the same time, I carried my own story. I lost both of my parents, they were both young, my mum in her sleep unexpectedly, my dad to suicide only a few years later, while navigating the loss of a relationship and evidently single parenthood.
I’ve experienced deep grief, emotional confusion, isolation, and the quiet sometimes loud exhaustion (I'm talking ugly crying, snotting and screaming in despair and utter loss, and lashing out at people I love) in-between trying to hold it all together.
I’ve known the pressure of being the strong one, the provider, the carer, while also navigating childhood wounds, mental load, and life’s messiness. I also know the shame felt when you just can't hold it all together.
I don’t claim to know what anyone’s individual story feels like, but I do understand the terrain of emotional pain and the power of feeling seen, supported, and understood.
That’s why I chose to get my qualification as a Counsellor, to offer a service for both mind and body, as a place where healing is holistic, human, and grounded in real life. A place where my client's can come as they are and be supported in real life, not a clinical version of that. A place that is safe to speak with absolute honesty, to give voice to pain, to cry, to swear (respectfully), to release and heal.
Here, I bring together Counselling and body-based therapies to support people, wanting to find the balance with home life and career, who may be overwhelmed, anxious, burnt out, or just quietly running on empty.
I help people reconnect with their mind and body, find clarity and calm, and make space for themselves again, without having to abandon the roles they care about most.
Because I know what it means to juggle work and family with everything that is going on in the background, to nurture others while often neglecting yourself and needing more peace without knowing how to find it, or feeling guilty to.
My mission is to break the cycle of quiet suffering, pain, guilt, shame, burn out and overwhelm. To help people feel more emotionally empowered, physically at ease, and better equipped to navigate their lives with purpose and presence.
When your mind has an outlet, when your nervous system can settle, when your body is listened to, everything else shifts.
* Communication improves. Energy returns. Confidence rises.
* Your approach softens while simultaneously becoming stronger within.
* Work becomes more fulfilling.
* Life starts to feel a little more manageable and enjoyable.
* You start coming back to your true nature.
I believe healing isn’t about fixing.
It’s about reconnecting to what’s already within you, your strength, your clarity, your worth. even when it's hard to see.
And that’s why I do what I do.
If any of this resonates with you, I’d love you to get in touch, or if you are not ready please feel free to read the articles I have created. More resources will be added to the site in the future.
Sometimes it’s just nice to know that you are not alone in your feelings; most of us have something going on that we don’t want the world to see, and that’s totally normal.
We are human, we break, and we fall, and with the right support getting back up is much easier.
